What is a polygraph test?

A polygraph test, commonly known as a lie detector test, measures physiological responses such as heart rate, blood pressure, respiration, and skin conductivity to determine truthfulness.

Is the polygraph test accurate?

Polygraph tests are considered highly accurate when administered by trained professionals. While no test is 100% foolproof, the American Polygraph Association reports accuracy rates of up to 95%.

Who can take a polygraph test?

Only individuals aged 18 or over can take a test. We do not test individuals who are pregnant, under the influence of certain medications, or dealing with severe mental health issues. When you request a test you will be required to complete a safeguarding process to ensure that you are safe ans suitable to be tested.

How should I prepare for a lie detector test?

You should get a good night’s sleep, avoid alcohol or drugs, disclose all medications and medical conditions, and arrive on time. Being honest and cooperative improves accuracy.

Will I feel pain during the test?

No, the test is non-invasive. Some mild discomfort may be felt from the blood pressure cuff, but no pain is involved in the polygraph process.

Can nervousness affect the results?

It's normal to feel nervous. The polygraph examiner accounts for baseline anxiety during pre-test questioning. Only significant physiological changes linked to specific questions are analysed.

Where will the test be conducted?

Tests are conducted at professional offices, rented meeting rooms, or suitable commercial premises — never in private residences, except for qualified business clients. If you cannot see your location listed please contact us and we will discuss the nearest location available to you.

How many questions can be asked during a polygraph test?

Up to three relevant questions can be asked, and it is recommended that they all relate to a single specific issue to ensure test clarity and reliability.The examiner will discuss your questions and offer advice prior to the test?

What happens if I’m on medication?

You must disclose all medications before the test. While many don’t interfere with results, failure to disclose could lead to test cancellation or invalid results.

What questions can I ask?

Questions must be based on factual physical events, such as 'Did x happen?' they cannot be questions about thoughts, feelings or intentions such as 'Do you love?' or 'Have you ever thought about?'.

When will I get the results?

You will be given the results of the test verbally in person on the day, a writen report will be provided with 48 hours.

How long does a Polygraph take?

The test will take between 1.5 to 3 hours depending on the complexity of the case.
